| Jeffery Bowden has served the field of interpreting for over 25 years providing interpreting services in every setting. Jeff began interpreting at Shiloh Baptist church under the tutelage of Mrs. Deborah Lyles and Ms. Carolyn Jones. Continued exposure into interpreting lead him to work as a freelance interpreter for DeafPride, a community based multi-service advocacy program for the Deaf, Later Jeff began to grow and develop his interpreting skills by joining the interpreter team for numerous National Black Deaf Advocates Conferences. Simultaneously, Jeff was employed at Gallaudet University as a Resident Assistant, Resident Program Supervisor, Basketball coach and senior class sponsor for the Model Secondary School for the Deaf. Always working on his skills, Jeff became involved with theatrical interpreting in the Washington Metropolitan area being mentored by sign coaches such as Bernard Bragg, Dr. Ernie Hairston, Michelle Banks, Fred Beam, and Bill Ennis. Jeff joined the inaugural staff of Gallaudet Interpreting Services in 1992 and immediately began pursuing certification from the Registry of Interpreters for the Deaf and obtaining both CI and CT.
