| Roy was born to Deaf parents in 1976 and has been working professionally as an interpreter since 1995. He earned his NAD IV Advanced certification in 2000 and has interpreted in almost every imaginable situation, from K-12 to the Superior Court of Orange County, to Medical, Psychiatric, Conferences, and was even asked to interpret for the renowned Bernard Bragg’s “Theatre in the Sky.” Since June of 2004 Roy has gotten lots of experience interpreting for VRS and spends most of that time interpreting in the middle of night. He is a life long learner, earning his associates in 1998 and his Bachelors Degree in History in 2005 from the University of California, Riverside. Roy is currently awaiting results for his NIC performance test, has passed the SC:L written test, and is now a candidate for the SC:L performance test. From Eagle Scout to Marine Corps, Roy has traveled far and wide to 6 of the 7 continents and has even lived in Brazil for two years. He served as a firefighter/EMT and also has his FAA ASEL/AMEL pilot license. He enjoys scuba diving, hiking, riding motorcycles and travel. |
