“How to Interpret with ‘Bom-chic-a-wow-wow’ A Guide to interpreting VRS in the middle of the night, or any time for that matter”
Rated R for graphic language and possible nudity
Advanced
Roy McCrory

There is a difference between VRS interpreting and “Real” interpreting. In the VRS context there are several obstacles to true communication. There is only one cure for the deficiencies in VRS interpreting and that is a healthy dose of “Bom-Chica-Wow-Wow”. The cure can and should be liberally applied to “Real” interpreting situations as well. This workshop will cover several important areas of ASL/English interpreting including prosody, Gender-speak, models of interpreting, regional and cultural sign and spoken language choices, Sexual sign and spoken language choices, druggie signs, and how to interpret a 911 call.
