Brigham and Women's Hospital is looking to hire a 20 hours/week part time ASL Interpreter.

ASL Interpreter position - Brigham and Women's Hospital - Part-Time

The 20 hour ASL position provides services on Tuesdays, Thursdays and half days on Fridays. The candidate is going to share the weekly responsibilities with another 20 hour ASL interpreter.

Below a condensed summary of responsibilities and qualifications.

 

Some of the job responsibilities are:

Responsible for assessing the needs of deaf and hard of hearing patients and providing assistance by interpretation of consent forms, diagnoses, discharge plans and any other type of patient-related information. Coordinating services for Deaf patients in various hospital encounters.  Candidate should be highly motivated and a self-starter. Willingness to work with a great team. Responsible for delivering the highest quality of service to patients, providers and hospital employees. Candidate must have a strong ability to interface with all Hospital personnel and must demonstrate strong teamwork skills.

 
Some of the qualifications:
  • Bachelors Degree with a concentration in a human relations field (i.e. Sociology, Psychology) highly preferable.
  • Must be a Certified Sign Language Interpreter.
  • Satisfactory fluency in English and target language, at a level that ensures accurate and understandable interpretation. Good writing skills in English.
