Converts spoken English into ASL or Signed English understandable by people who are deaf and use these types of communication. The ASL interpreter will also voice for the person who is deaf when needed. The ASL interpreter will be scheduled to interpret the student’s classes, events, lectures, student organization sessions, House Council meetings, advising appointments, etc. that are offered by the College. Assists in the recruitment of freelance interpreters and ensures consistent and reliable interpreting coverage. Benefits eligible position. Anticipated start date: mid August. (2 positions – 20 hours per week, 10 months per year)
Requirements:
ASL proficiency, State or National screening/certification. Bachelor’s degree or demonstrated ability to interpret college level language. Excellent communication and interpreting skills required. Must be able to work effectively in a culturally diverse environment.
