Rodney
is completing his second term (2003 - 2006) as the
NAOBI MCC Treasurer, second term (2003 - 2007) as
the National Treasurer of NAOBI, Inc., and served
as the Conference Chairperson for the 2005 NAOBI
Professional Development Conference held in Long
Beach, CA.
Rodney has lived in the Chicago area for sixteen
years; he was born and reared in Akron, OH where
he was introduced to Deaf Culture and Deaf Ministry
at the Arlington Church of God. He served as a Church
Interpreter from 1985 - 1990 and Interpreter Coordinator
of the Deaf Ministry for the National Inspiration
Youth Convention (NIYC) of the Church of God from
1989 - 1999. Rodney is currently working as a Freelance
Interpreter taking assignments in the areas of:
General, Religious, Social Services, Political,
and Educational venues. He is also currently serving
as a Church Interpreter with the Deaf Ministry of
the Salem Baptist Church of Chicago. For two years,
Rodney was a volunteer Tax Preparer for the Chicago
Hearing Society's Tax Preparation Service for the
Deaf and Hard of Hearing.
October 30, 2005, Rodney graduated with his Doctorate
of Business Administration (Information Systems)
degree from Argosy University/Chicago. Rodney earned
his Master of Business Administration - Accounting
('93), Bachelor of Science in Accounting ('86),
Associate of Arts ('86) and Associate of Applied
Business - Data Processing ('84) degrees from the
University of Akron. Rodney currently has Level
II - Transliterating - Illinois' Interpreter Skills
Assessment Screening (ISAS).
Memberships include both local and national affiliations
of RID and NAOBI.
